About Love My Teepee

Love My Teepee began at Christmas 2012 when I decided to make a special teepee for my grandchildren to share. They were absolutely delighted — and proudly announced, “Nana, I love my teepee!”

That’s where the name came from, and it still makes me smile every time I hear a child say those words today.

When friends and family saw that first teepee at my daughter’s house, everyone wanted to know where it came from. Once they heard it was handmade, the orders quickly started coming in — first through word of mouth, then from further afield as more people discovered my designs.

What started as a one-off Christmas gift has grown from my sewing room here in Nottingham into a small family-run studio, where I still personally design and make every handmade and personalised teepee. I take great pride in keeping things truly handmade — not mass-produced — so each teepee feels personal, unique, and crafted with love.

With a background in soft furnishings and interior design, I’ve always loved creating things that bring warmth and imagination to a home. I see a children’s teepee as part of that — a piece of décor that’s both beautiful and full of comfort, a cosy hideaway that becomes part of family life.

Over the years, I’ve heard so many wonderful stories from families — from children who won’t come out of their teepee the first night because they want to sleep inside, to those who insist it follows them from room to room. One little girl even pulls hers along the wooden floor like a turtle shell so it’s always where she goes. I’ve seen dads squeezed inside with their little ones, teepees glowing under Christmas trees, and gifts that spark as much joy for the parents as for the children.

There’s something truly magical about a teepee — it’s a space children can call their own, where they can dream, play, and create their own little world. That’s the joy that keeps me sewing.
